Margret Stöckler
After a year and a half of heart-education with my 18 elementary school children, I am now taking the time to tell you
how this concept of social learning has affected the children and our community.
- The children express their own feelings very clearly and sense what they need. (space, comfort, a conversation, reconciliation)
- The children express their needs more and more clearly.
- Others' feelings are perceived very attentively.
- Children recognize if another child is in need and requires something from them. (space, comfort, a conversation, reconciliation)
- The children adhere to the agreed-upon peace tools in case of conflict.
- The children have learned to seek help when the peace tools "fail."
- The children trust that conflicts can be resolved together.
- The children approach conflicts very calmly and are patient with the clarification process.
- The children gradually understand their ingrained patterns of argument.
- The children increasingly offer each other conflict resolution possibilities independently.
- The children have explored their "treasures" and know their own strengths.
- The children are proud of their uniqueness.
- The children have collectively discovered how diverse the strengths of the community are.
- The children have learned that being different enriches the group.
- The children are no longer afraid to talk about their weaknesses.
- The children support each other in learning – there is no mocking.
- The children help each other, share with each other, and often bring each other small joys.
- The children know ways to collect "sunshine" in their hearts and can deal with negative emotions.
We also frequently work with the "Heart-Education with Oups" workbook.
If you would like to take a closer look at the "Treasures of Your Heart" card set, here is the link.
With these cards, we explored our own strengths - the treasures in our hearts!
The Heart Exercises with Oups are always wonderful.
Children can use them when they are in distress:
For fear: Vacuum cleaner, protective cloak, flashlight
For anger: Vacuum cleaner
For excitement, nervousness: golden egg, spotlight
For restlessness: Oups massage
I hope I was able to give you a small insight into this valuable unit from the concept of heart-education and wish you much joy in trying it out. You can now also find an exchange opportunity on Facebook with me and other educators. Visit us in the group "Heart-Education and Social Learning." Click here to check it out!
I look forward to seeing you!
